I was interested in the article re Ariel Gazelle. The Skipper was one of my ancestors, my father was a Peter Burgon . Anyone who knows more re him and his family I would be interested to hear from them, as I am researching the family.

Dear Ruth and Carol,

Very bemused! My father is Peter Burgon, his father was Peter Burgon and was born and brought up in Berwick upon Tweed. The skipper in the above article was also my ancestor! As you can imagine any information will be of great interest. We have gone back generations with our family tree but to date have no information of you Ruth but would love to hear from you. Regards.

Melissa (maiden name Burgon)

I would welcome any information on the Burgon family my mother's great grandfather died in the disaster. I know that there were several children left behind but at the moment i am still investigating our family history.

To add to my last comment i have since discovered that my mother's great grandfather could not have lost his father at that time. If anyone has any information though i would be grateful i am trying to trace Henry Burgon born around 1883 to David Burgon and Mary Burgon (nee Anderson) although i ma not sure if this is true. He married Margaret Young 13/12/1908 in Eyemouth. I do know that he had an aunt Jean who owned property and i am told also liked to pop inot the pub to fill up her jug. Margaret young's parents were William a fisherman and Maggie Young who was dead at the time of the wedding. please contact me at mm011f4177@blueyonder.co.uk as i am also unable to find his birth certificate
