LIVINGSTON manager Roberto Landi will be left wondering how his side failed to win this game after dominating the second half. Livi's star striker Leigh Griffiths was missing and they paid for his absence as they missed a host of chances.
The open
ing 20 minutes had been dull and referee Steve Conroy decided to improve things by asking for the floodlights to be put on, and his intervention appeared to work as Marc Smyth had the first attempt on goal seconds later, but his drive flew wide.
Livi thought they had gone ahead in 31 minutes when Calum Elliot nodded in from two yards out after Stephen Robertson touched a Liam Fox drive on to the post, but an offside flag cut short the celebrations.
Airdrie's Simon Lynch took advantage of a Roddy McKenzie fumble to net eight minutes later, however, he was also denied by an offside call.
The play switched to the other end and Chris Innes had a free header at a corner, but his effort crashed against the bar. Elliot suffered further bad luck six minutes into the second half when he was denied by Robertson when straight through on goal.
Robertson was involved again in 65 minutes when he mis-directed a pass to Livingston's Rocco Quinn 25 yards from goal but the midfielder chipped wide. Quinn then set up Anthony McParland at the edge of the box and the winger curled the ball inches over. Joe Hamill was next to try his luck with a 20-yard free kick and Robertson beat away his effort.
