Duncan Cleary, 39, an outdoor activity instructor from Meadowbank, gives his top five Edinburgh outdoor activities.
Mountain boarding Think of snowboarding with wheels and the seven hills of Edinburgh.

Mountain biking From Currie down the Water of Leith to the docks. The Slateford aqueduct at the Union Canal is always a good spot to get great views of the city. Disused railway lines, the promenade at Portobello, yes and the hills – any of them.

Climbing Indoor and outdoor, there's Alien One at 8 Pier Place and Alien Two for bouldering, 37 West Bowling Green Street. Blackford Quarry is great as well.

Canadian canoeing Heading from Edinburgh at Fountainbridge on the canal, going west to the outskirts of town – even in the rain.

Origami While swinging in a hammock in my mum and dad's back garden in Clerwood on a sunny day.
