A GOAL from Bradford City after four minutes consigned Dundee to their second successive defeat to English opposition at Dens Park.
The Dark Blues lost to Wolves on Sunday, courtesy of a last-minute goal, but succumbed much earlier in this encounter when Barry Conlon headed home from a corner kick with the game in its infancy.

It was a worthwhile exercise for Alex Rae's side,
who played well in spells but could not find their scoring touch.

Bradford, managed by ex-Rangers and Scotland midfielder Stuart McCall, took the lead when a corner from Paul McLaren caught Dundee flat-footed, leaving space for giant striker Conlon to bullet a header beyond Rab Douglas.

Former Ibrox midfielder Makhtar N'Diaye has been bidding to win a contract at Dens Park but had his chances of impressing curtailed on 27 minutes when he fell heavily on his arm after making a tackle on Graeme Lee.

Dundee United began life without Noel Hunt by beating Arbroath 2-0 in their latest pre-season test. The Tannadice club sold Hunt to Reading earlier in the day, and a United XI won thanks to first-half goals from Garry Kenneth and Marco Andreoni.

An under-strength Falkirk XI lost 2-1 to Berwick, with John Stewart on target for the SPL club.

St Mirren were 3-1 winners against Stirling Albion with striker Jim Hamilton on target twice in the first half. Andy Dorman added a third after Steven Waddell had pulled a goal back.
