Craig Levein wants to remain at Dundee United for the foreseeable future after rejecting the advances of Watford.
The Coca-Cola Championship strugglers made an approach with a view to recruiting the United manager as replacement for the sacked Adrian Boothroyd.

However, Levein is enjoying life at Tannadice after recently leading United on a 10-match unbeaten run.

"Watford came in at the weekend and made an enquiry," Levein told the Scottish Sun.

"It's a big job, but I wasn't the slightest bit interested.

"No disrespect to Watford, but I won't be leaving United unless I get the boot or something really attractive comes up."

Levein left Hearts to manage at Leicester in 2004 but he revealed his main motivation was to escape the "turmoil" over the club's ownership and financial problems.

"I'm still a hugely ambitious person and want to manage at the top level," he added.

"But I like it here and I'm happy, which is a big thing for me."

He’ll be scared of the Watford job. He fell flat on his face with Leister and the same would happen to him in the Championship with Watford. The guy is completely second rate as far as managers go and to be honest if I had to choose a coach between him and the other clown manager in the SPL (Suntan Jimmy) I would pick Calderwood.

SuperWayne the irony in that is quite amusing. Leven is nowhere near the standard of McGhee or Smith. There is nothing more pathetic in this world than a grown man who wears a baseball cap.

#3 i have no idea what team you support but how can you be so blinkered as to say that levein is 2nd rate? He worked miracles at Hearts, taking us to 3rd in the league something like 3 times in 5 years while having to cut his budget every year! He led us on decent European runs as well! What has suntan Jimmy done with more money at his disposal? One 3rd place finish and that's it! Levein has since taken Dundee Utd back up the league and to a cup final where they were beaten by a late goal and dubious refereeing. He hardly had a chance at Leicester either. Utd will finish 3rd this year - put some money on it.
For what it's worth - i reckon you are a bitter Hibs fan who hates Leveing because of his Hearts connections or a celtic fan who won't forgive him for ruining your league challenge by beating you 2 - 1 at Tynecastle when Austin McCann scored!

#7 Oh i see - they made an enquiry because they DIDN'T want him, not because they DID want him. How stupid of me!
Hearts will probably finish 4th.
I don't remember leving spending much money at Leicester - in fact he had to recude their wage bill as well. His major fault was that he thought he could do to Leicester what he did to Hearts, with former Hearts players and to be honest, they weren't even close to being good enough. De Vries, Kisnorbo, Maybury, Sloan .... As per usual in England, they didn't give him long enough to turn things round which i'm convinced he would.

"Few against many"

Get back to me when you can spell Levein's name correctly.

Which could be a while, as you don't start with spelling until primary 2.

Ha Ha! You have got to love it, the spell check police are everywhere! They seem to infiltrate every message board internet wide picking up on spelling mistakes and trying to provoke the innocent with the intensions of stroking ones ego and perhaps even organ? I feel sorry for you, no doubt a jambo who is indignantly offended that I have had the shear faced audacity to insult a man you have had a poster of above your fireplace for the last 25 years.

Levein is a top bloke and a top manager. When you see what happened to Leicester after he left, it shows he was working well to keep them in the division whilst reducing costs. At Hearts he led us into Europe whilst cutting costs and at United he's performed well without having any money again.

Wish he was still at the Hearts.

OK - tell us who you think is "first rate" and why your choice is better than Levein.

Or are you just prejudiced..???

All - Craig is a good manager of that there is no doubt, he has had as much success as could be expected at the clubs he has managed based on the restrictions he has been under. This is the same with many good managers, they appear to suffer because of various things, such as reducing costs, boardroom ionterference in on field matters etc.
By the same token putting what we call top class managers into the same position they would produce only similar results.
However I would like to know the definitions of what a top Manager is from those who know?

by the way I called him Craig because I don't know how to spell Levein!!!!!
