Block blamed on homes axe

HEALTH bosses in East Lothian say the closure of care homes in the area has led to bed blocking in local hospitals.
A recent NHS Lothian board meeting heard how, as a result of the closures, there is now a higher number of people in hospital who should be ready to leave.

Latest figures show that while bed blocking is still behind Scottish Government targets in the Lothians, improvements have been made. In July there were 108 cases in the Lothians, which fell to 81 in August. The agreed target is 66.
