A HISTORIC country home in East Lothian has been awarded the Scottish tourism industry's highest accolade.
Lennoxlove House, in Haddington, was given a five-star rating by VisitScotland as an exclusive use venue. The 700-year-old house re-opened last summer after an extensive restoration project to transform what was once the family home of the Duke and Duchess of Hamilton into a venue for private stay, corporate events and weddings.
Ken Buchanan, general manager of Lennoxlove House, said: "Since re-opening in 2007, we have had a very busy and successful year.
"I think what makes Lennoxlove House stand out as an ideal location is that guests can soak in the grandeur of the house and the magnificent collection of paintings, memorabilia and historic artifacts in a private, yet accessible, location."
The five-star grading system is used by VisitScotland to recognise the quality of customer care, range of facilities, levels of hospitality and service as well as presentation. Five stars is classed as "exceptional".
