MORE Lothians children than ever are being immunised against measles, mumps and rubella.
Figures released yesterday showed more than 95 per cent of five-year-olds were being given the MMR jag, ahead of the Scottish Government target.

A drive to inoculate more kids is credited with adding to the rise, also higher than the national average.

Dr Lorna Willocks, NHS Lothian's immunisation co-ordinator, said the injections were essential for youngsters' health, and that it was important both stages of the jab were received. She said: "It is excellent so many parents have ensured their children will be protected."

Lord Dyson,

Midlothian 05/10/2008 21:35:59
Thank the Lord - a section of our population is displaying common sense. As the lefties and the knowitalls down south and elsewhere vote by foot and neglect (for this is what we are talking about) to have their children immunised, the risk of widespread outbreaks and therefore child death from these diseases is massively increased and will happen. Measles, mumps and rubella are not just run of the mill infections that it would be handy to prevent, they are serious viral infections that kill and cause serious congenital defects. We have these vaccines because the great medical minds of the past identified this. For parents to fail to deliver adequate protection by way of immunisation is culpable neglect and gross arrogance. I do not know what figure the Scottish Ministers are targeting but the fact is that we should be driving towards eradication and to achieve that, the target figure should be 100%.

Lord Dyson, away and suck.

You have been brainwashed by political folly. If you cared to have a look at the real evidence your attitude might change.

Lord Dyson,

Out by the Political Folly Brain Bath (apparently) 08/10/2008 19:28:18
My good fellow, it is yoooou who has been brainwashed: my assertions are based on medical literature. Unfortunately the real evidence will come in the shape of statistics in the Mordidity & Mortality Weekly Report. Now be a good chap and stop biting on your own arm.

As is usual the studies that are generally reported and used by government and so called medical experts is seriously flawed. There is masses of evidence of manipulation of the results, not reporting the results of studies which do not give the response looked for and basically lying about results. These reports are force fed to the population who fall for them hook line and sinker.

If you can take a look from the oputside and weigh up the evidence properly instead of believing everything you are told, and of course attempt to be impartial, you will find that you are seriously misguided.

Measles , mumps and rubella were always run of the mill illneses which children recovered from and gained important and crucial antibodies from the infections. Nowadays we are being sterilised of germs. Children are so 'protected' they really have little chance in the long term.

MMR and its like poisons children and cause a multitude of health issues later in life....FACT!!

STOP MMR before it is too late.

There are better ways to protect the children, it is just that the government and health authorities are too blinkered to realise it.

If the government or health authorities were to backtrack on their long standing misguided advice to parents they would be lining themselves up for huge compensation claims, so we will always be LIED to about these, and many more, issues that have a bad impact on our lives.

Asil, well done. I can see how in the current climate this was a big decision for you. You did the right thing, read the literature and came to a (correct) decision. These are NOT 'run of the mill' illnesses(as you may have read elsewhere) and anyone with an iota of medical grounding will tell you so.

Lord Dyson....wake up.

I don't really expect you, just like the millions of other brainwashed trolls that provide their children with dozens of future illnesses, to wake up; after all repeated governments and health advisors have done an excellent job hiding the truth. Yes, they have hidden the truth again as they have before with many other illnesses and cures that have been ditched because nobody would make money from them and for many other reasons. Scientists have been imprisoned because they wouldn't allow themselves to be kept quiet by governments, others have been ridiculed.

There is solid, well proven evidence that links childhood immunisations to future health issues. If anyone is too blind to see that then I feel sorry for them.

Information provided for public sight is authorised by the very bodies that have been found on many occasions to be less than honest and misguided about health issues.

I expect your response to be of ridicule and how ignorant I can be, but I would expect no less from the ill informed and misguided. Simply turning your back on the truth does not change the truth.

Well, I had them all, as did every other child I knew in the late 50s and early 60s, and I've never heard of a single instance of anyone suffering long-term ill effects from them. Having them was just a routine part of childhood.
