Too many people waxing lyrical! Has anyone else seen a diary with drawings done by Doyle's father - I picked it up second hand years ago. The introduction talks in general terms about his alcoholism and his "artistic temperament." An interesting article!

I wonder how C.A. Doyle's incarceration affected his son's writings. A.C.D. wrote some very scary tales. In his Sherlock Holmes stories, there was a drunken wife beater, drug addicts, a man who poisoned his brothers and sister with an halucinogenic drug, people throwing acid at other people, a supposed vampire. A rather unpleasant cast of characters.
