<description><![CDATA[<p>This is a wonderfully informative story. My congratulations and thanks to Jim Gilchrist and my appreciation to The Scotsman for its continued interest in native-son Sir Arthur Conan Doyle.</p><p>I think it would be a wonderful thing if there were a statue in Edinburgh of Sir Arthur with Dr. Joe Bell. Sir Arthur would be seen as a young student, Doctor Bell as the fine teacher and diagnostician that he was and, of course, we would see in the two of them the very beginnings of Sherlock Holmes. Perhaps Sir Arthur and Doctor Bell could be portrayed working at a laboratory table with Holmes looking over their shoulders.</p>]]></description>
