James Warland, 23, a student vet from Musselburgh, names his top five animals at Edinburgh Zoo.
The painted hunting dog These beautiful creatures come from Southern Africa and they are really endangered.

Tigers I've always liked these, as they're fearsome hunters. The zoo has a pair of Amur tigers, which are from Siberia.

Penguins They're very graceful when they swim underwater, and they always make me smile.

Pygmy hippos These animals are strangely cute.

Chimpanzees They're our closest relatives, and it's fascinating to watch them exploring their new enclosure.
