1 Pronuptia, Antigua Street It has ample cubicles and the assistants pass you through the dresses so no one sees you in your underwear.

2 Emma Roy, Leith Street This place is very busy, but for a good reason – it has hundreds of dresses in every colour and style.

3 Berketex Bride, Frederick Street The prices are reasonable here.

4 Butterflies, West Port This is a tiny shop but the staff couldn't be friendlier.

5 Eleganza Sposa, Waterloo Place This is a lovely shop, more upmarket than the others.
