Jon McDonald, 31, a lawyer, Stockbridge, lists his top five second-hand bookshops.
The Old Town Bookshop, Victoria Street A little gem, almost hidden from sight.

McNaughtan's Bookshop, Haddington Place, Leith It has a great selection of second-hand and antiquarian books.

Peter Bell Books, West Port It's very serious and always very quiet, but makes a nice change from the clutter of other bookshops.

Tills, Buccleuch Street Its proximity to Edinburgh University means it can provide a cheap way for students to catch up on their reading lists.

Oxfam bookstore, Morningside Road It has a good selection of old vinyl records too.
