Sarah Scott, 30, a call centre worker from Murrayfield, tells us her top five theatres in the city.
Traverse, Cambridge Street This is the best place for contemporary theatre in Edinburgh, and is usually my theatre of choice. I saw Black Watch here in the Festival two years ago, which has to be my all time theatre highlight.

Playhouse, Greenside Place I like going to the Playhouse to see all the big musicals.

Bedlam Theatre, Bristo Place It's usually smaller productions that you get to see, but it's great for a cheap night out, and as it is student run you might discover a piece of theatre you wouldn't get the chance to see in the bigger places.

King's Theatre, Leven Street I only really go here once a year – at Christmas for the panto- mime. I'm a big kid at heart!

Festival Theatre, Nicolson Street I've only been here a few times, but it's a really nice building and the staff are very friendly.
