Kate Shannon, 24, from London Road, lists her top five places in Edinburgh to share a pint with friends.
1 Mathers, Broughton Street

This pub is great for a quiet drink, a chat and tunes from the juke box.

2 Brass Monkey, Drummond Street

Great selection of beer and an unusual 'bed' area in the back. A relaxed atmosphere to meet friends.

3 Cask and Barrel, Broughton Street

One of the best places for unusual ales and a real old-fashioned pub ambiance.

4 The World's End, High Street

An Edinburgh institution with a dodgy past, but a great crowd.

5 The Foot of the Walk, Constitution Street

I love Leith and I love this pub. Always full of surprises.
