A MISCONCEPTION among Hibbies. I'm not privy to what goes on in the Easter Road boardroom. Frustrating in the extreme because I'm for tapping gently (make that thumping) on the door at the next board meeting with a constructive suggestion.
"Gentlemen," I'd plea, "I've noted your latest communiqué to the fans – 'the headlines they want to read about are what was the score, who scored the goals.' You've forgotten something. Nowhere in the proclamation do you mention yellow cards. Foolhar
dy yellows ( three in the last home game and three more at Dundee) could well be about to cost the club a UEFA Cup place and big bucks for the club's coffers."

Skipper Rob Jones had accumulated six, with a resultant two-match suspension, second of those a crucial money-spinner at Tannadice. It's a matter of discipline among your playing staff and management, gents. Pure and simple. Do something about it, for God's sake.

Dress was dafta
John, you're such a bitch! But I have to ask, did you clock Fiona Bruce's outfit at the BAFTAs? Poor woman. Somebody should have told her.

While we're talking telly, Jenny Abramsky, 61, is stepping down as director of audio and music at the BBC with a pension worth £4 million. Don't fret for Jenny. If she can't get by on that, her new job as chair of the Heritage Lottery Fund will keep the wolf from the door.

Pipe down, now
I don't want to cry because I'm Scottish. Distressing, though, to see the EU trying to silence our bagpipes. Crivvens! The braggarts at Brussels want to chill our chanters. Must say I've found it hard to suppress a smile when smirking music lovers have quipped that the pipes sound great from a distance – the further away, the better.

Smiling myself seeing a budget airline's advert enticing travellers with the headline "Five Things To Do And See In Southampton." What next? Five Things To Do And See In Dundee?

Afterwords . .
. . . Tony Curtis still smooth talking: "I don't want any woman except my wife Jill, and for the first time in my life it isn't just lust." He married Jill, a 6ft tall blonde 43 years his junior, in 1998.

Gibson is merely jealous that Tony Curtis can pull younger women while he has to make do with his wire.
