LIVINGSTON have confirmed the appointment of Italian Roberto Landi as their new manager.
Landi has signed a two-year contract with the First Division club, who were taken over by an Italian consortium led by chairman Angelo Massone earlier this month.
The former goalkeeper has coached the under-21 teams of Georgia, Lithuania and Qatar
, and managed clubs in Hungary and Romania. He will be assisted by football consultant Davie Hay, the former Celtic and Livi manager, whose son-in-law, Tomasso Angelini, is part of the ownership group.
Meanwhile, the board of Cowdenbeath have issued a statement to deny suggestions that club chairman Gordon McDougall has quit. McDougall sold his stake in the club last year to Innovate Cowdenbeath Ltd, a venture which was set up to help the club find a new home, but remained as chairman.
However, on Tuesday the new owners sacked club manager Brian Welsh, who is McDougall's son-in-law, leading to reports that McDougall had gone as well.
A statement issued by the club last night said: "As it stands there is no substance to speculation that Gordon McDougall has resigned from Cowdenbeath."
Welsh learned of his fate after 20 months in charge while on a family holiday in America.
McDougall is at Euro 2008 and then on holiday, and is not expected back at the club for five weeks.
New manager Danny Lennon is drawing up a list of signing targets. "I am looking for good footballers and athletes with a bit of physical presence," said Lennon.
