LIVINGSTON have signed former Celtic winger Anthony McParland to a two-year-deal.
The 25-year-old's first outing for his new club is likely to be against Dan Petrescu's Romanian outfit FC Unirea at Almondvale a week tomorrow.

McParland is the club's second signing under the new regime led by Angelo Massone, who said: "We are very pleased to welcome Anthony to the club. He is an exciting, attacking player and we are confident he can make a significant impact in the First Division next season."

McParland was a free agent after quitting Parkhead and trying his luck in England with Barnsley and then Wycombe Wanderers.

Massone also revealed that former Lazio under-21 striker Matteo Merini was today jetting into Scotland to begin a trial for the club under Roberto Landi.

The 52-year-old coach has promised supporters a brand of passing, attacking football, with the emphasis on possession.

"You won't see my team play long ball. My teams score goals after making 23 passes. For 95 per cent of the time they play the ball on the ground."

Landi also claimed to have been interviewed for the Fulham job before Roy Hodgson was appointed.

Serious question - How far (in miles) was the boy Southworth from either of his chosen quotes when they were actually voiced?
