Care worker Paul's award win is a first for Scotland

A MIDLOTHIAN care worker has become the first Scottish recipient of an annual national care home award.
Paul Wilson, of Drummond Grange Care Home, Lasswade, was selected from among 183 nominees to be named Britain's top activities manager at the Annual Barchester Healthcare Care Awards 2008.

He is the first Scot to win the award.

Drummond Grange's general manager, Maria Hutchison, said: "I am so proud of Paul and what he has done for all residents and staff at our care home.

"He brings that special touch to residents' lives and goes beyond his duties to make Drummond Grange Care Home a special place to live.

"We are all so proud that he has won this special award."

Mr Wilson was presented with a cash prize, trophy, certificate and money for personal career development by GMTV's Fiona Phillips at a glittering awards ceremony in London.

The care worker, who has worked Drummond Grange for three years, said: "Everyone in here, staff and residents alike, are absolutely delighted for me."
