FALCONRY displays are to be held at castles throughout the Lothians as part of a series of history events.
Organisers Historic Scotland are running the sessions, in partnership with experts Falconry Scotland, through the summer.

Historic Scotland's Sheena Garden said: "Falconry is an art which involves the use of trained birds of prey to hunt or pursue game for humans. Historically, it was a popular sport and status symbol among medieval nobles."

Properties taking part include Linlithgow Palace, East Lothian's Tantallon Castle and Crichton Castle, Midlothian.

Will the falconry displays such as at Tantallon Castle just be for this year or next year also? I am coming to Scotland and Golspie is a bit too far to go to see falconry, but I would love to see it. So if Tantallon is going to have this as a regular thing I will get to take pleasure in it as well.
