Australian magazine apologises for Harry gaffe

AN Australian magazine apologised today for publishing a story revealing that Prince Harry was fighting with British troops in Afghanistan, eventually resulting in him being sent home.
New Idea said it was unaware of a media embargo about the Prince's mission when it ran the story in January.

In an unsigned item in its latest edition issued today, New Idea, a celebrity and lifestyle magazine with a monthly circulation of about 390,000 copies, said: "We did not knowingly breach any embargo.

"However, and more importantly, we do acknowledge that our actions in publishing the story can be reasonably viewed as insensitive and irresponsible."

The magazine has been known as "No Idea" for many years. Perhaps they were peeved that no one took offence at their article until over a month after publication.

Dirty politics and dirty journos go together.

One must admire the fact that he went
... out to join his army unit and
... 'do the right thing'
... however it was always going to eventually
... be used for jingoistic journalism
... and that is unfortunate.


However
... someone from his wealthy background could easily
... have copped out.
You have to respect the fact he went and did it.
