A CITY centre clothes shop has closed after the company announced it was moving out of the UK.
The Mexx shop on Princes Street will now be taken over by Optical Express, although a move in date for them has yet to be announced.

A poster appeared on the door of Mexx, which faces Waverley Station, last week announcing that it would close and not be relocated in Edinburgh.

It occupies a prime site and there had been fears that it would be left empty.

But a manager at the shop said today: "The company is moving out of the UK in general. A lot of our customers had been asking where we would be moving to, so we felt we had to put the sign up."

Around 25 staff worked in the shop. Mexx will however retain its outlet at McArthur Glen, in West Lothian. The shop had been in that location since 2006.
