"Why give all our good venison to the French?"

Maybe they pay more for it. Supply and demand?

The French produce wonderful lamb but they also import cheaper lamb from UK ..and New Zealand.

I can even buy Scottish pheasant in my local French supermarket, which I have yet to find in an Edinburgh supermarket. May still be found in Jenners - I haven't looked recently.

Oh, I remember the days, or nights to be more precise. Go to rural Perthshire (near Urban Perthshire) at about 0230 and load a dear carcass into the boot of your car.

Just loved the venison from Scotland when I was in Germany.
