VOTERS from Kazakhstan, Mongolia and Christmas Island in the Indian Ocean have joined a contest to choose a national anthem for Scotland.
The Royal Scottish National Orchestra says its website has "gone wild" with hits from all over the world since it invited people to choose between five popular tunes.
Joining the long-running wrangle over a suitable tune to replace God Save the Queen for Scotland, the orchestra played five favourites at its Last Night of the Proms concert in Edinburgh on 10 June, inviting the audience to sing along. It put the recordings, with lyrics, on its website.
The five tunes are Robert Burns' A Man's a Man for a' that and Scots Wha Hae!, Highland Cathedral, Scotland the Brave and the Corries' tune Flower of Scotland.
The poll closes on 1 July, with results announced that day.
