ATTEMPTS to literally fly the flag for Scotland on one of the country's most iconic structures have lasted only two days.
As part of the upcoming celebrations for St Andrew's Day, two giant Saltires were hoisted to a height of over 500ft on the bridge towers of the Forth Road Bridge on Monday morning.

However, one of the 15ft flags had to be taken down yesterday at around noon after blustery conditions caused it to become entangled in the wires of the flag poles.

A spokesman for FETA said: "The south flag (Edinburgh] is still flying fine at the moment. The north flag (Fife] got caught up in the wires of the flag poles that support the flag. It's torn a little bit so it's been taken down to be repaired.

"This is why we don't normally fly flags from the bridge because they're extremely exposed.

"We will just need to keep an eye on it but we will have one up through St Andrew's Day."

The spokesman said it should be back in its place by this morning.

Apologies for any spelling mistakes, I can barely see the keys through tears of shame.
I don't know which is worse, engineers not being capable of flying a flag or admitting to same.
