SCOTTISH music stars will help round off the Homecoming 2009 celebrations with a one-off St Andrews weekend concert, organisers announced today.
Deacon Blue, Hue and Cry, The Bluebells and Midge Ure will take to the stage for Homecoming Live – The Final Fling on November 28.
The event celebrates a golden era of Scottish music and will showcase Scottish talent.
The Vaselines, Idlewild, The Law and King Creosote will also perform on a separate stage.
A Scottish food and drink festival will be part of the event in the SECC in Glasgow.
Promoter Geoff Ellis said: "Homecoming Live – The Final Fling is about bringing people back home to celebrate Scotland and its music scene as well as giving them the opportunity to be part of once-in-a-lifetime experience.
"Music lovers will be able to join with family and friends to relive past memories and create new ones – all to a unique soundtrack, accompanied by some of the best culinary delights the country has to offer."
Homecoming Scotland 2009 celebrates the 250th anniversary of Robert Burns' birth as well as the country's culture and heritage.
Over the St Andrews celebratory weekend, which runs from November 26-30, Homecoming Live gigs will also take place in King Tut's Wah Wah Hut and the Clyde Auditorium in the city.
Marie Christie, project director of Homecoming Scotland 2009, said The Final Fling event "will be one of the highlights" of the Homecoming Scotland finale from 26 – 30 Nov.
