What is your earliest memory of Edinburgh? I remember visiting the Arnotts store on South Bridge with my nan for a hot chocolate before shopping until we dropped.
What are your memories of school? I went to King's Park Primary in Dalkeith. I
remember my teacher Mr Hackett who loved sports and one of the female teachers wearing bloomers (yes bloomers) under her skirt. Each day we would have a bet on which colour they would be. It was worth the punishment to find out the answer.
Where is your favourite place in Edinburgh and why? I love The Shore as there are so many great restaurants and bars, and you can even take care of your hangover by eating one of the amazing breakfasts you can get at the King's Wark.
What are the best things about Edinburgh? I love the architecture, the city's history and the Festival
What would you change about the city? I would upgrade Princes Street as it looks really run-down in comparison with George Street.
Describe a perfect Edinburgh day/night out. My day out would have to be lunch in Leith, followed by a trip to Easter Road for the footy. My ideal night out would have to be during the Festival, seeing a comedy show and then having some beers in George Street or the Grassmarket.
Which sports interest you? I'm an avid Hibs fan and I love athletics – I used to compete for the Edinburgh Southern Harriers team.
What was your most embarrassing moment? I was in the George Hotel when I thought the waiter was taking our wine back (which was half empty) as we had not said if we wanted a full or half bottle. He was only taking it round to my partner's glass! My excuse is that I was only 18 at the time.
What is your greatest achievement? It has to be conquering my fear of flying and competing for my country at athletics.
Sum up Edinburgh in three words. Beautiful, historic, roadworks.
