What is your earliest memory of Edinburgh? It was the wonderful smell of coffee beans, cheese and freshly-baked bread in Valvona & Crolla. I remember being in awe as I stared up at the high shelves stacked with pasta and salami
s hanging from the ceiling.
What are your memories of school? I remember running around the rooftop playground at the Mary Erskine School when it was still on Queen Street. We had to wear navy blue knickers every day and they were always very scratchy.
Where is your favourite place in Edinburgh and why? I love going to the farmers' market at Castle Terrace on a Saturday morning. There is so much great, fresh Scottish produce on offer. Creating a celebration of Scottish produce was important for me when organising Foodies at the Festival.
What are the best things about Edinburgh? There are so many wonderful places to eat in Edinburgh and so many Michelin-starred chefs – poor Glasgow!
What would you change about the city? More cycle lanes please.
Describe a perfect Edinburgh day/night out. I love eating out and, as it's Festival time, I would pack the evening with shows and then stay up until dawn at the Spiegeltent – there's a party there every night!
Which sports interest you? I love yoga and tennis, and I always delight in Andy Murray's success.
What was your most embarrassing moment? I was helping a friend serve Sunday lunch – we had slaved over it all day – and dropped this full tray of roast potatoes.
What is your greatest achievement? Last year was the first time Foodies at the Festival took place. It was such a great success, and especially having so many Michelin-starred chefs cooking all on the same day.
Sum up Edinburgh in three words.
Beautiful, delicious, exciting.
