ARCHAEOLOGISTS have discovered evidence of a Roman settlement at the base of a man-made hill built 3,000 years before they arrived.
New data reveals that a Roman community dwelt on an area the size of 24 football pitches around the base of Silbury Hill in Wiltshire some 2,000 years ago.

Experts believe the 5,000-year-old hill may have been a place of pilgrimage for the Romans, possibly viewed by them as sacred.

The 130ft-high Neolithic hill is Europe's largest prehistoric monument.

I guess the 24 football pitches were probably built in the hope of attracting the world cup, and when somebody finally realised that football hadn't been invented they turned it into a Tesco superstore with a large chariot park.

I'm very surprised.

I wouldn't have thought many could live in or near Silbury Hill.

When I went there and climbed the hill, I was struck down with immense sadness, and could not stop crying.
Most of my friends experienced feelings of gloom and depression; as soon as we were a few hundred yards away from the hill, those feelings departed and we were back to our normal happy selves.
