Yes, the statistics of what proportion of passengers died depending on what class they were travelling makes for sobering reading (40% died in First Class, 75% in Third). By the way, I do commend anybody who couldn’t stomach the schmaltzy James Cameron movie, to look at the black and white classic of the sinking called A Night To Remember, which well illustrates the point.

I've also written a book on this highly divisive issue. Originally in electronic format, its now been rereleased as a paperback.
I'm not sure about the sociopath moniker. People who knew Captain Lord never spoke of such a character trait, and the ship's logs of those he sailed with would often journey with him for up to 7 or 8 excursions - hardly likely if he was lacking in social traits.
Anyway, my book's website is here: http://www.paullee.com/book_details.php

What a pooly written story

Ships by ancient convention are she not it

On the swimming pool, Titanic was a steam ship not a sailing ship

175 ft high means nothing. Ships height is usually called depth, moulded depth, braught, freeboard and then heights above the waterline sometimes called air draught and possibly heights above the main deck
Ships are not laoded with lifeboats unless they are cargo, they are equipped with lifeboats

Do not judge events by present standards.
In my mind there was an element of culpability in respect of the Titanic's speed in the, freezing, fog and more than en element in the parsimony of her owners when the water tight bulkheads were not built sealed at the main deck

1Dunnie sorry you are wrong there was no requirement in those days for full capacity of lifeboats this regulation came in after the titanic sank. most of those lost were 3rd class passengers who would not have been given lifeboat space anyway at that time due to the then them and us society, the 3rd class passengers were locked in to prevent them taking first class passengers places

Whether Lord's ship could have saved all or none of the Titanic's passenger is irrelevant.

The damaging point is that he made no effort whatsoever to answer internationally recognised distress signals.

One trusts that today those aiming to be Ship's Captains or Airline Pilots undergo psychometric testing which will eliminate sociopaths and other unfortunates before they get the chance to damage those who travel with them.

FFS!

This idiot misses the point. The Titanic's owners were to blame and guilty of murder. Allowing a ship to sail with only half the required lifeboats was a criminal act. Looking for a scapegoat only added to their shame and culpability.
