THE family of the former Motherwell and Dundee United footballer Jamie Dolan have told of their grief after he collapsed and died while out running in Bathgate.
The 39-year-old father-of-one is thought to have suffered a massive heart attack. Police who found him tried to resuscitate him in the street after he collapsed in Glasgow Road on Sunday, but he died before he could be taken to hospital.

Mr Dolan'
s family had reported him missing after he failed to return from a run which he had taken to keep fit for a testimonial match planned for fellow ex-Motherwell star Dougie Arnott. Police set off to look for the footballer but it was several hours before wife Elaine, 41, heard of his death.

She said: "He was perfect. He was a brilliant husband and dad and none of us can believe he has gone. We are in shock.

"We had no idea where he was. He was keeping in shape for Dougie's testimonial and went out for a jog. We had to report him to the police as a missing person and at 8.30pm they told us he had died. Apparently two officers found him in the street and tried to revive him. They called an ambulance but he died there."

It is a second shock death for Motherwell fans after skipper Phil O'Donnell collapsed and died of heart failure on the pitch in December.
